THE KIRBY PILL COUNTING Machine
MODEL K-11 . . . By John Kirby
This Kirby Machine is set at 120v for use in the U.S. But by
simply
flipping a switch, it will operate in other countries, (the appropriate electrical computer cord must be added).
The
Kirby Lester counting machine company, owned by John Kirby and R. Lester made Counting Machines under the Name Kirby Lester in the U.K. They made KL-7, KL-
8, KL-X and KL-15e, with variations of some of these. When they decided to split up, R. Lester took the Kirby Lester Corp. and John Kirby, took his favorite machine, the KL-8. He then upgraded this machine to get rid of common faults and add features he thought were needed. He first introduced the K-9 Stainless Steel machine that operated at a better voltage, and 4 digit RED LEDS, to allow the count to go to 9999. Using the same size tray and similar top funnels as the KL-8, he added a better tray indicator, and method of zeroing the machine without the use of a zero button. The next model K-10 was similar except the LEDs were liquid grey/black. This Model, the K-11, has all the upgrades and enhancements.
This machine had a previous owner, but it was well taken care of, Very Fine condition. (Please see pictures) . . . The cone splitter has the peak in a well defined sharp point and shows only a very slight discoloration on the exterior from the Flourescent lights. . .These are indications of the amount of use.
The Funnel top and other plastic funnel parts have NO CRACKS or CHIPS and exhibit a light even toning. . . . (The plastic parts on Kirby machines are under flourescent lights most of their lives and so there is a slow yellow toning taking place.)
This machine received a few new parts inside during rebuilding. The catch tray is original with NO CRACKS or CHIPS.

This is an VF example of a K-11 of manufacture in the Later years. . . The Serial number is on a plaque on the back "firewall" of the machine under the cover. It has the fuse holder and electric outlet on the opposite side of The KL-8

Your Kirby is at risk
during transit
, due to the rough handling or dropping of the packages by Shippers. The longer the distance a package must travel, the more chance there is of damage. In the past, we have had a problem with damage to about 1 out of 15 machines shipped in the
U.S.

Canada
. To effectively keep this damage, in transit, at a minimum, we have just invested in
special cushioning foam inside a fitted box
to protect your fragile Kirby machine.
This packing method was first used on the early KL-8s that were shipped from the
U.K.
to the
U.S.
The Kirby machine was surrounded by 2 inch rubber foam in a precisely sized box.
We are constantly trying different packing and cushioning methods to allow a Kirby Machine to withstand being dropped or thrown. The 2 inch foam surrounding the machine has been found to be the best first step. In addition, we wrap each Kirby in a “Cocoon” of bubble wrap and stretch wrap. And, then use convoluted foam to fill in any spaces. We believe this
new cushioning method will fully protect our Kirbys
in the best manner possible.
